A Cemetery the Community Can Be Proud Of
Combre Memorial Park was founded in 1952 by Doretha Combre in Lake Charles, Louisiana. The property started out with just ten acres. It was established as non-denominational and available regardless of race to anyone in the community. At Combre Memorial Park, we are committed to providing the Lake Charles community with several cemetery settings we can all be proud of, like our Harriet Tubman Gardens. Appropriately named after the great slave emancipator, Harriet Tubman, for her famous underground railroad which led dozens of slaves to freedom, this features a 192 lawn crypt. Now set on 23 acres, our cemetery property provides a peaceful and welcoming space to connect with nature, learn about history, and discover peace with loved ones.
The Garden of Prayer
The Garden of Prayer is another beautiful aspect of our property. Special features of the Garden of Prayer include 120 crypt mausoleum with imported red granite and a 72 niche Praying Hands Columbarium, conveniently located near our main administrative office. These are beautiful structures featuring engravings of the names of those remembered there and are accented with beautiful natural features. Visit the Garden of Prayer to connect with some of Lake Charles’ history and experience the calm tranquility our cemetery provides.
Veterans Memorial
Visit the Veterans Memorial at Combre Memorial Park to pay respect and homage to those who bravely protected our country and freedom. Conveniently located near our administrative offices, our Veterans Gardens honor those who served in the United States Military. The Veterans Memorial also features a United States flag and a flag of each branch of the military. We have a Veterans Memorial Monument that is available for the engraving of all military veterans. Every Memorial day at Combre Memorial Park, McClain Post 551 American Legion conducts ceremonies honoring those that have served. Visiting this memorial is both an opportunity to learn about our history, as well as to connect with loved ones who lost their lives protecting our home.
